Mummy mask made of linen soaked with wet plaster, which was then moulded, allowed to dry, and painted and gilded. (This material is known as 'cartonnage'). The mask has a gilded face and a tripartite head-dress or wig, painted to represent curls and plaits, with a fringe over the forehead. This suggests that the mask was made for a woman. It shows her in the idealized, almost divine form that the dead hoped to have in the afterlife. At the ends of the head-dress lappets, some of the gods of the dead are depicted, including Osiris.
